in order to fix my mp3 player, i purchased a $1.49 eyeglass repair kit at my local CVS (incidentally why have no pharmacies figured out an efficient checkout process? can they just get absorbed by supermarkets and get it over with?) imagine my surprise when the kit turned out to be perfect. the screwdriver, unlike previous kits i have purchased, was actualy "designed". it has a magnetic tip, which is clearly essential for the teeny tiny screws. the "handle" part grips really well. and the top spins, so you can apply pressure with your palm as you tighten or loosen the screw. it made the experience of taking a square-inch sized player apart and putting it back together a joy rather than the pain in the ass it would have otherwise been. hooray taiwan!

worst post ever

Today is a great day for me. I can stop looking for an apartment. I have been looking on and off for the last month. In addition to the process being inherently annoying, I also pursued it along 4 different branches, which essentially means 4 times as much work as a simple search. In the end I had determined that I can't really find anything nearly as good as my current place, even at a much higher price. That was making me pretty depressed, until, serendipitously, at jordan's (my former roommate's) goodbye dinner, one of his work friends turned out to have a friend looking for a place in Harvard square. it is great when things work out. it is great that i will have the next two weekends to do whatever i want rather than pack, move, unpack, etc. That just rules.

On my odyssey I looked into buying a place too. It seems to me like the housing market in Cambridge pretty much has to be overpriced now. So my official prediction is that prices drop or at least stagnate for 2005 and 2006, and then pick up again. For those of you considering my advice as valid, here's my official disclosure - I know nothing.
